Staycation At Lake Austin Spa Resort

In my opinion, there’s nothing better than a quiet day in the country, spent sitting by the water. I’m always dreaming of spending the day soaking in the views and reading by the pool or lake. I love the convenience and excitement of living in a great city like Austin, but long for time to disconnect and relax in the country.

Located on Lake Austin, Lake Austin Spa Resort is perhaps the most lush expression of my weekend dream. With ample lake shore views, a scenic country setting, mature trees, foliage, and...oh yeah, a beautiful spa, two restaurants, and amazing accommodations, Lake Austin Spa Resort is the ultimate spot for a day away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

An aerial view of the spa pool, cabanas and spa building.

I’ve passed the property by boat several times, but was blown away when I had the opportunity to visit and experience everything I had only dreamt about from the water. Here’s my take on all of the amazing things Lake Austin Spa Resort has to offer.

Views.

There’s no question about it, if you’re looking for a scenic view by the water, this is the place. My plan was to cozy up next to the water and polish off a book. From the docks on the lakes to the beautiful poolside cabanas (the property has two outdoor pools), there was plenty of space of lounging. I made sure to catch the sunrise and sunset by the lake and headed over to the spa pool for lunch and afternoon reading.

I’ve got my big hat, shades & a smile…pretty much all you need to enjoy a day at Lake Austin Spa Resort.

Food.

I had lunch and dinner at the resort - both were spectacular. Lunch was poolside from the Aster Cafe, a more casual (yet still super high-end) experience near the property spa. I’m a big eater, and had to ask my server to course out my meal over an embarrassingly long period of time (and I had to take food back to my room). The lunch package came with an appetizer, soup, entree and dessert; each of which was light yet flavorful.

My dinner came from the resort dining room, but was delivered to my room via room service. Another light and flavorful meal, I was really impressed by the room service and set-up.

Activities.

If lounging isn’t your thing, there is no shortage of activities to keep you moving at Lake Austin Spa Resort. From floating yoga to water sports to kickboxing, the activities team on property has plenty planned to keep you active. I was able to get a sample of the resort kickboxing class (killer) and take a few of the water toys (including water bikes, kayaks, and paddle boards) out on the water.

Accommodations.

For me, a relaxing stay has a lot to do with the comfort and thoughtfulness of the accommodations. Let me just say I LOVED my room at Lake Austin Spa Resort. My favorite part being the small private back patio space, perfect for sipping morning coffee. The room was cozy and well-designed. Although I didn’t get a chance to utilize the giant bathtub, I must say that the shower was wonderfully designed (tall people rejoice for an adjustable shower head) and the complimentary toiletries were super luxurious.

Spa Services.

I was able to experience both a massage and facial during my time on the resort. I enjoyed the 50 minute Custom Comfort Massage and the 50 minute Your Personal Best Facial. Both services were amazing and relaxing. I could tell both of my service providers were extremely experienced in their fields by their technique and conversation. The spa property, in and of itself, was a relaxing experience. I enjoyed lounging in the calming “Blue Room” before and between my services where I was able to read, lounge, and enjoy light snacks and beverages. The spa offered complimentary robes and sandals to spa guests. By the time I was finished, I was in such a state of euphoria that it was all I could do to meander back to my room and cozy up in bed for the rest of the evening…full disclosure, I wore my robe and sandals for the walk.

Up until recently, the Lake Austin Spa Resort experience was reserved for resort guests only, was recently opened up to outside guests for half-day and full-day spa experiences. You can learn more about their day packages here. If you live around or near Austin and are looking for an amazing and affordable day, I highly recommend checking out Lake Austin Spa Resort.
